This section aims to get your copy of Picture Viewer Pro up and running, should you encounter any problems.

Upgrading Picture Viewer Pro

When a new version becomes available, you must first remove the old version before installing the new one.

Simply go into your Windows Start Menu/Orb - then to Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs (Programs and Features for Vista users), and remove Picture Viewer Pro from your system. You can then install the new version.

Unlike with some programs, there is no need to restart your system.

Download Microsoft .Net Framework v2.0

The first (and main) thing you need to have installed is the Microsoft .Net Framework v2.0

Most computers running Windows Update will already have this file installed.

The installer will automatically download this for you if required, but a direct link to it is provided below.

Download .Net Framework v2.0 from Microsoft (22.4 MB)

As detailed below, there are further requirements to installing this in the first place. If your computer is out of date, this might mean additional downloads.

System Requirements:

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000 Service Pack 3; Windows 98; Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows ME; Windows Server 2003; Windows XP Service Pack 2

Required Software: Windows Installer 3.0 (except for Windows 98/ME, which require Windows Installer 2.0 or later). Windows Installer 3.1 or later is recommended.
IE 5.01 or later: You must also be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 or later for all installations of the .NET Framework. Disk Space Requirements: 280 MB (x86), 610 MB (x64)

Download Microsoft .Net Framework v3.5

The most current version of the .Net Framework is v3.5, although not required to run Picture Viewer Pro, it does no harm and may include bug fixes not in v2.0

You can get it from here.

WINDOWS INSTALLER:

The second thing you might need if your computer is older, is the Windows Installer. This is detailed in the paragraph above. If this is not present, you cannot install Picture Viewer Pro. Almost all modern computers are going to have this software present already.

Note: If you have Windows 98 and have installed the proper version of Windows Installer but it still won't install Picture Viewer Pro - make sure you are running the provided Picture Viewer Pro Setup.msi file!

Outlook Support

Picture Viewer Pro uses Microsoft Outlook to send email and file attachments. This support is optional, not required!

If you get a message up saying that your copy of Outlook is missing the Office PIA's then please read below to fix.

Normally, when you install Microsoft Office or Outlook, the Primary Interop Assemblies get installed automatically.

If these are missing however, Picture Viewer Pro will not be able to use Outlook.

You can either reinstall Office, choosing Repair and do a full custom install (selecting the PIA's), or download them from the locations below:

Office 2007 Update: Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies (6.3 MB)

Office 2003 Update: Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies (4.1 MB)

Office XP Update: Redistributable Primary Interop Assemblies (1.7 MB)

With the appropriate version installed for your version of Outlook, Picture Viewer Pro will be able to send email.

If you have any other issues not covered here, please send an email to:
support@pictureviewerpro.com and you will receive a prompt answer. Thank You.
